Year 9 - Physics - 29.4.13

PHYSICS Worksheet (Yr. 9)

Work Done in Fluids

Name:                                                                                                                                        Date: 26/04/1013

Q1. What is the work done to fill a tank if the tank has a volume of 1000 cubic feet? The discharge tank is located 125 ft. above intake level. The weight density of water is 62.4lb/ft3.

Q2. Find the pressure difference if the height of a tank of water is 75 ft.

Q3. Find the work done to fill a tank where the height difference between intake valve and the outtake valve is 90 ft. The tank has a volume of 2500 cubic feet.

Q4. Find the work done by a Hydraulic cylinder that moves the piston 8 cm horizontally. The fluid pressure is 45,000 N/m2. The area of the piston face is 11 cm2.

Q5.  Find the volume of the fluid displaced as a piston moves 5 cm and the cross-sectional area is 8.5 cm2.

Q6. Find the work done by the cylinder where it moves the piston 6 cm. The fluid pressure is 39,000 N/m2 and the cross-sectional area is 13 cm2.
