following passage carefully:
EXERCISE – USES
In olden times it was thought that exercise had nothing to
do with the prevention of disease. It was believed that physical exercises gave
much exertion and pressure to the body and heart. The heart would beat faster
and wear out soon. But contrary is the case today. Doctors have found that
regular exercises can prevent many diseases.
Exercises minimize the chances of the developing problems
such as headache and muscle tension. These also reduce stress level. Many rely
on drugs to relax. But regular exercise provides natural tranquilizers that
reduce anxiety associated with stress.
People who exercise regularly tend to sleep better and deal
more effectively with the conflicts of daily life. Exercise lessens fatigue
also. Along with endurance, it improves the oxygen utilization at the muscle
level. This will mean increased endurance, less fatigue and an improved
recovery of time.
As our fitness level increases our cardiovascular system
improves. It results in higher level of activity and makes daily tasks less
stressful. Weight is also controlled. By increasing the caloric expenditure,
exercise reduces the body‟s
fat level. A change in our daily habits helps to reduce likelihood of our being
overweight.
Aerobic exercises like skipping, brisk walking, running and
swimming help burn out calories. However, along with these exercises one should
take proper diet consisting of more fat, carbohydrates and protein.
In spite of all these benefits, one should not forget that
overdoing or over-exercising will result in problems like tendinitis, ligament
sprains, stress fractures, muscular injury, etc. When you feel pain while doing
exercises, stop them. Half an hour spent every day will do more good than one
full day of the week spent in a gymnasium.

Section – B
Read the following passage carefully:
It is strange that, according to his position in life, an
extravagant man is admired or despised. A successful businessman does nothing
to increase his popularity by being careful with his money. He is expected to
display his success, to have a smart car, an expensive life, and to be lavish
with his hospitality. If he is not so, he is considered mean and his reputation
in business may even suffer in consequence. The paradox remains that if he had
not been careful with his money in the first place, he would never have
achieved his present wealth. Among the low income group, a different set of
values exists. The young clerk, who makes his wife a present of a new dress
when he hasn‟t paid
his house rent, is condemned as extravagant. Carefulness with money to the
point of meanness is applauded as a virtue. Nothing in life is considered more
worthy than paying one‟s
bills. The ideal wife of such a man separates her house –keeping money into
joyless little piles- for rent, for food, for the children‟s shoes; she is able to
face the milkman with equanimity and never knows the guilt of buying something
she can‟t really
afford. As for myself, I fall into neither of these categories. If I have money
to spare, I can be extravagant, but when, as is usually the case, I am hard up,
then I am the meanest man imaginable.
