Read the following passage carefully:

“Mission accomplished, Sir!” were this real -life heros last words.

(1) It was a Friday. The second day of January 2004. The nation was still recovering from New Year celebrations. A young army Lieutenant was the real life hero at the Jammu railway station as he gunned down militants in a virtual one-to-one battle before losing his life.

 (2) Lt. Triveni Singh was waiting for a train on Friday night, when the terrorists struck. He found that the militants had taken position on an over bridge linking platforms one and two and were firing at the station teeming with pilgrims on their way back from the Vaishno Devi shrine.

 (3) Lt. Singh rushed, to come within close range of the terrorists. He faced indiscriminate firing and lobbing of grenades by the militants but succeeded in killing one of them. The second terrorist threw a grenade while trying to escape, but the seriously injured officer stood up and shot him dead.

 “Mission accomplished, Sir!” Lt. Singh said and saluted his General Officer- Commanding before he died.

Mission accomplished but life shattered at home in Pathankot, where his father,Capt. Janmej Singh (retd) and his mother were busy planning their sons wedding, due in March 2004.

Read the following passage carefully:

Companies look for persons who believe in experimental learning rather than books worms, say experts. They look for candidates who have the ability to perform multi tasks. What is multi-tasking? Today, be an engineer graduate or a MBA graduate, within two to three years they are expected to move to a supervisory level and would have a team under them. At the same time they are also expected to report to more than one superior and handle more than one project at the same time. Now to accomplish that task one has to have the multi-tasking skills. It is nothing but the ability to manage shared resources. They have to shift and move from one task to another at the same time and accomplish the tasks within the set deadlines without compromising on quality. To achieve that, one should be blessed with the multi tasking ability. It is nothing but the ability to perform various jobs at the same time.

 Taking the cue from what the experts say, it can be understood that the companies look for some additional skills apart from the academic skills. The skills can be broadly identified as training skills, presentation skills, knowledge sharing skills, communication skills and team building skills.

A resume‟ reflects the skills set of a person. How does a resume‟ reflect skills set?
Apart from the academic highlights, if the resume shows that one has interest in writing blogs, was an active participant in all the technical symposiums or festivals that were held in the college, organized events, presented papers in technical festivals, have done more number of projects apart from the ones prescribe in the curriculum, have voluntarily visited more number of industries to understand the work culture and have actively participated in team sports and team events, then he or she is considered to develop multi-tasking ability.

Most of the companies look for people who have a consistent good record in academics, good hold over English writing and speaking skills, analytical skills, communicative skills, general awareness and team skills. The hobbies practised by the person also showcase his or her multi-tasking ability. The interviewers generally expect that he or she is well versed with the hobby. If playing is ones hobby, he must be familiar with its basic rules and a few records.
